Live Virtual Summit on “Advances in EV Design & Development”

3 min

Electric vehicle market is poised for stronger growth. It is likely to be around ₹50,000 crores by 2025 with two-wheeler and three-wheelers to lead adoption in medium term. The charging infrastructure market is also expected to grow by 40% in the same period. The battery cost is also expected to hit $100 per KWH in next five years marking EVs economically competitive. There are, however, several challenges that needs to be addressed from technology point of view. The range anxiety and charging time are still considered as a hurdle in adoption. Battery reliability and life are still the factors that worry the OEMs. For India, success of EVs will be largely determined by ability to localize the design and production of EV powertrain.

The next generation of vehicles will decide who will prosper in this segment by providing the best in class performance and reliability over the others while still being cost competitive. To achieve the right balance of these attributes requires developing the electric drivetrain components that perfectly fits requirements and operational attributes corresponding to the Indian driving scenario.

Engineering simulation is one of the key factors in designing the next generation of vehicles. This virtual summit will try to uncover some of the advances in electric vehicle design and development using simulation solutions. Industry leaders and technology enablers will try to bring out various challenges in self-reliance for Indian electric vehicle development and how simulation driven design and development helps to counter them.

Studies by well-known global automotive OEMs/suppliers have shown the quantified benefits of simulation in electric vehicles design. Simulation has helped to gain 30% productivity in developing BMS for an automotive service provider while helped an OEM to realize 12% more Power density and energy efficiency in electric machines. The simulation has also reduced the electronic hardware development time by 20% through virtual validation for EMI EMC.

Simulation helps the automotive industry to meet some of the stringent goals such as:

• Reduce cost of development

• Improve performance and efficiency

• Cut down Time-To-Market

We will discuss the relevant topics through keynote talks, panel discussions and focused technical presentations.
